Iranian Forces State Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the United States has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have shot down missiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
The statement noted wreckage landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
