Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a former physician has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
